Lyle Shapiro is the History teacher at Sherman Oaks High. He is portrayed by Adam Shapiro.

Personality[]

Lyle Shapiro is a fun, caring, and a passionate person who is passionate about history, along with his students whom he treats with immense respect. His kindness is seen when Devi easily manipulated him into thinking that if he did not re do Paxton's history exam, he would have been a prejudiced guy who "promotes toxic masculinity," and when he tends to support his students when they are vulnerable as seen in the example of Devi. However, despite his kindness he tends to be too obsessive about history. Many of his well-intended attempts to be sensitive and use modern inclusivity language sometimes land awkwardly with his students, such as claiming to "cancel himself" following a gaffe.

Physical Appearance[]

Lyle is an adult male with brown eyes and thick, curly brown hair, and a beard and mustache. He wears collared button-down shirts, sweatshirts, pants, and shoes. He often wears clothes that have progressive sayings on them, like "Nevertheless, she persisted" and "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention". Another comically progressive thing he wore, was in episode 1 of season 2, when he wore, a pink p*ssy hat
