Howard Gross is an entertainment lawyer. He is Vivian's husband and Ben's father. He is portrayed by Michael Badalucco.
Personality[]
Howard is always on business calls and has little time for his son, and Ben's home life is shown to be quite lonely, as both his parents are regularly absent and constantly taking various trips, vacations, and retreats where they leave their son behind with their housekeeper, pressuring him to repress his emotions all the time, and mostly having the company of no one.
However, he and his wife do show affection towards Ben, who insists to them regularly he is fine alone even though he clearly isn't.

Cancelling the Game[]
He and Ben have an appointment that they will go to the Clippers game together with Shira, Ben's girlfriend. But he cancels, because of a Kanye deal which is really complicated he messages Ben.
Ben's Birthday[]
On Ben's birthday he and Vivian have to leave for business and asks him he wants them to stay they will cancel to stay for his birthday, but he tells them that they can go and celebrate when they are back home. He gives Ben a thousand dollar ($1000) to throw a party and tells him if he needs more money he can call him.

Devi asks Ben to stay with him after she and her mother got in a fight. Howard and Vivian are cool about letting Devi move in with them. Their only concern is that Devi wouldn't do what their last boarder, a Greek foreign-exchange student named, Stavros, did who had robbed them and tried to seduce Vivian.
After his workout with Ben, Devi walks into the room and asks him if he can help her to become emancipated from her mother. He tells her that he is going to look into it and see what he can do.
