Synopsis[]
Unsure about her own love life, Devi focuses on Nalini's - but it will mean befriending an enemy. Pati's birthday ends on a high note no one saw coming.
Plot[]
Devi remains calm while waiting for her Princeton results and shifts her focus to texting and flirting with Ben. However, she notices her mother flirting with Margot's dad, Andres. After processing it, Devi tells her friends that she's fine with her mom dating Andres. Devi also wants to set up her mother with Andres because she'll be lonely when Devi goes to college. Fabiola suggests exploring more college options before making a final decision. Devi and Fabiola consider going to prom together, but Eleanor is preoccupied with her new play script. Eleanor reveals her struggles in booking acting projects.
During dinner, Nalini asks Paati about her birthday dinner, and they plan a small gathering. Kamala is concerned about Len's intentions and worries about him hurting Paati. Nalini advises Kamala to focus on work instead. Devi talks to Nalini about potentially dating Andres, and after a pep talk from Devi, Nalini agrees to invite him to Paati's birthday dinner. The next morning, Nalini invites Andres to dinner, but he explains that it's not wise because of Devi and Margot's history as enemies. Devi overhears and is determined to reconcile with Margot.
At school, Devi talks to Margot about their parents' potential relationship and convinces her that they should pretend to be friends to help their parents. In the cafeteria, Trent advises Ben to prioritize fun over assignments since he's already accepted into college.
Devi and Margot reconcile and invite Andres and Nalini to dinner. Andres accepts the invitation, surprising Nalini. During the dinner, Devi and Margot discuss their newfound friendship. However, the conversation takes a turn when Len receives a call from someone named 'Baby,' prompting Kamala to eavesdrop. Kamala overhears Len saying he'll marry Kamala before meeting the caller.
At auditions, Eleanor encounters her mother, Joyce, who is also auditioning for the same role. Joyce is glad that Eleanor is following her footsteps but hopes she'll understand her life choices. Angry at her mother's lack of empathy, Eleanor realizes the challenges of being an actress.
Devi and Margot are surprised to see their parents getting close despite their differences. Margot reveals that Ben has been texting her, which shocks Devi. Devi learns that Ben had meaningful conversations with Margot while joking with her. She realizes Ben has feelings for Margot and encourages her to date him. Kamala steals Len's phone and, with Devi's help, invites someone named 'Baby' over.
Trent and Ben hang out, and Trent gives Ben drug-laced gummies. Trent pushes Ben to confess his feelings for Devi, but when Ben arrives at the Vishwakumar house, Margot is there and feels betrayed. Ben ruins Paati's birthday cake and a woman named Baby arrives, causing Kamala to accuse Len of a con. It turns out Baby is their real estate agent. Margot leaves with her dad, and Ben goes with them. Nalini tries to resolve the misunderstanding, backing Len up. Nalini assures Devi she doesn't need her to set her up, and Kamala confesses she's been using Paati's relationship to avoid facing her own job opportunity. Nalini encourages them to embrace change.
The next day, Eleanor decides to go to prom with Devi and Fabiola. Devi apologizes to Margot for the situation with Ben and reveals her own feelings for him. They bond over being rejected by Ben and are happy about their parents dating. Andres arrives and expresses his interest in a real relationship with Nalini. Devi walks in on them kissing and gives them privacy. Later, Devi checks her college applications and learns that she has been rejected by all the Ivy League colleges and wait-listed for Princeton.
