... liked a bad boy is the third episode in Season 4 of the Netflix series, Never Have I Ever. It is also the thirty-third episode overall.
Synopsis[]
As senior year continues to spiral, Devi's resolve to avoid Ethan weakens. Paxton returns to a comforting place. Nalini tackles termite issues.
Plot[]
Devi wakes up from a dream about Ethan, realizing she's betraying her best friend Eleanor. Nalini slips on the stairs due to termite infestation and asks contractor Mr Ramos to fix them, leading to an argument. At school, Devi can't stop thinking about Ethan and learns that Paxton quit college and returned as an Assistant Swimming Coach. Devi encourages Paxton to give college a chance.
In the cafeteria, Eleanor is infatuated with Ethan, while Fabiola defends him despite his vandalizing past. Devi realizes that Eleanor will date Ethan, so she suggests Eleanor ask him out. Ethan invites them to a party at his place. Trent welcomes Paxton back, but Paxton is still bothered by Devi's comment about quitting college.
Professor Thompson replaces Dr. Keyes in the AP Lit class and pairs Devi with Ben. Their discussion about the novel turns into an argument, leading Ben to request a different group. At Nalini's house, Mr Ramos removes the stairs completely, causing more tension. At Ethan's party, Eleanor and Trent encounter an awkward moment. Ethan gets close to Devi, but she tries to distance herself and asks Eleanor to talk to him.
Devi sees Ben with Margot and goes outside alone. Paxton feels at home at the party. Ethan joins Devi outside and kisses her. Eleanor witnesses the kiss and feels betrayed. Devi claims it happened due to her crush on Ethan. Eleanor reveals that Ethan had kissed her moments before. Fabiola suggests they move on from him and that he is at fault.
The next day, Nalini is angry with Mr Ramos for not fixing the stairs. Devi finds Mr Ramos' new construction job address. At school, Paxton meets Professor Thompson, who is surprised that he doesn't feel like an outcast. Devi confronts Ethan about kissing Eleanor first. Ethan apologizes and asks Devi to watch him skate at the parking lot.
Devi overhears Ben talking to Margot and learns that Ben imposed the rule of avoiding her. Devi goes to the parking lot and argues with Eleanor about lying to each other. They both realize they need to move on from their past crushes. Devi falls after being bumped by a skater, and Trent overhears their conversation, upset that Eleanor moved on so quickly.
Nalini and Kamala confront Mr Ramos at the construction site, threatening to expose him online. They eventually have a mature conversation, and Mr Ramos promises to complete the job. Eleanor tells Devi she still misses Trent and gives her blessing to pursue Ethan. Trent talks to Paxton about Eleanor moving on. Paxton overhears negative comments about him returning to high school. Ethan waits by Devi's car and expresses his feelings for her. Devi sets boundaries and asks him to be monogamous if he truly likes her. Ethan kisses Devi and agrees.
