... hooked up with my boyfriend is the eighth episode in Season 3 of the Netflix series, Never Have I Ever. It is also the twenty-eighth episode overall and premiered on August 12, 2022.
Synopsis[]
A game night gives Devi and Fab a chance for alone time with Des and Aneesa, but other guests throw the evening off course. An art tutor surprises Ben.
Plot[]
The game night is on, and Fabiola is getting everyone to play Brain Cranker. It becomes apparent to Aneesa that they are not meant for each other. That’s when Des and his squad show up. One is a friend of Des, whom Fabiola has an instant connection with. Their name is Addison. The other is a guy, Parker, only interested in either liquor, which they don’t have being a dry house, or Devi’s mother’s pills. But besides the giant box of tums she bought from Costco, they are out of luck. So, that is when Eleanor calls Trent to save the day, but the liquor store confiscated his fake ID. Des, and his squad are to leave because Parker is insistent. They go to another party; Paxton shows up with some alcohol with Trent. Des is noticeably jealous, especially after Devi tells Paxton he is her hero.
Everyone is enjoying the party. Trent is drinking whiskey and Fruit Loops. As he says, it is like his boba. That is when they hear a racket in the garage from Parker yelling at his parents on the phone and smashing a box with a tennis racket. It is the one her father bought that was from his favorite tennis player, John McEnroe.
Devi becomes upset, especially when Parker accidentally turns around and hits her in the arm with McEnroe’s racket. She runs upstairs, upset, and who is there to comfort her isn't Des but Paxton. Unfortunately, Des walks in on them with Parker in tow, and he mistakes Paxton whipping her mascara off her face as the two exes being intimate.
Elsewhere, Aneesa and Fabiola decide to mutually break up. It is apparent Addison and Fabiola are into each other. When Addison leaves, Fabiola is noticeably flushed, and Aneesa tells her to give her the best kiss she has in her. Aneesa concludes that they have no chemistry and are better off as friends. Aneesa assures Fabiola she is her girl, but in a platonic way.
Later, when Devi revisits her psychiatrist, Dr. Ryan, Devi admits why she was so upset over the aforementioned racket. It is the fact that she forgot about that racket, which made her feel guilty because she had fewer waves of guilt as of late. This has made her sad, but Dr. Ryan convinces her that this is not a terrible thing. It means she is healing and can go back to being a regular kid, which is what her father would have wanted for her. She then visits Des and explains to him what happened and that she is not this super cool chick from school. In fact, she describes herself as a loser. As a result, they both call each other hot and then politely, they both say thank you to one another. They begin to kiss and undress when Rhyah walks in on them.
